Political Art--Early
I was working on my doctoral dissertation when my classmate, Angela Davis, was named as an accomplice in the Marin County Courthouse shoot-out. I set aside my books, took out scissors and glue and produced several images designed to reveal her plight as a Black Power activist facing an angry Establishment. “Angela” was published as a poster and widely distributed at the time. The other images on this page appeared in the counter culture press.
